Interested in volunteering with us? Here’s what to expect.
A typical day of volunteering begins at 9 am and wraps up by 3 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. AHIP provides water, bugspray, and sunscreen, but volunteers should bring their own snacks and lunch. All volunteers must complete a liability waiver. At the start of your shift, AHIP’s volunteer coordinator or another staff member will conduct an onsite safety training and detailed instructions for carrying out the volunteer tasks. No construction experience is necessary to volunteer on an AHIP project, and volunteers aged 13 and older are welcome!
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. And we provide all the necessary tools and materials—volunteers are welcome to bring their favorite work gloves. We insist that all volunteers adhere to our safety rules and requirements while on the job site.
While we have hosted large groups of 20 or more volunteers in the past, eight volunteers is our typical group size. And we have several individuals who volunteer on a regular basis. Please complete the volunteer interest form below to tell us more about you or your group.
AHIP is tremendously grateful to the groups and individuals who volunteer with us. Last year, AHIP client families benefited from 288 total volunteers who put in a total of 2,427 volunteer hours worth $63,320. AHIP thanks the following FY17 volunteers:
