Helping Us Help Albemarle

2024 Volunteer Update

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with AHIP. We are so grateful for your continued commitment to serving our neighbors in need and your support of affordable housing preservation. At this time, following an extensive recovery period in the wake of the initial COVID-19 wave, we are once again exploring a limited rollout of volunteer opportunities for interested parties. Furthermore, we’re expanding the options for how to volunteer with AHIP beyond picking up a hammer on one of our worksites. You can also like and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky, and LinkedIn for continuous updates. Thank you for your understanding and support!

One of the greatest impacts you can have on our mission is to help us spread the word!

AHIP Ambassadors

Our organization is small, but the work we do makes a major impact for the homeowners we serve. However, it can be difficult to get eyes on a field like home repair. With your help, we can showcase the value of home repairs in keeping our wonderful community full of the diverse voices that make it so special!

Interested in becoming an ambassador? Contact our Development Manager, Kyle Ramey, at kramey@ahipva.org, or at 434.817.2447 (x22).

On-Site Volunteers

A common request from folks looking to learn more is getting out on a site and helping out themselves

After all, there are few better ways to see the impact of one’s contributions than by heading out into the field.

We are happy to discuss opportunities for construction projects for you and your team, provided the following is understood at the outset:

  • Volunteer-friendly projects are available on a limited basis, due to the nature of our work. While we’d love to have more projects available more often, many repair calls we get are for serious breakdowns that require expert training.

    • That said, if your schedule for volunteer opportunities is flexible, we maintain a list of interested parties, then reach out when a conducive project comes down the pipeline.
