Claudette joined AHIP in March of 2005, bringing with her 14 years of affordable housing experience. As Property Manager for AHIP’s Park’s Edge Apartments, Claudette is responsible for managing 96 apartments, interviewing prospective applicants, verifying eligibility, fulfilling reporting requirements to various government entities, collecting rents, enforcing policies and regulations, and juggling numerous other tasks associated with running a large apartment community. Prior to joining AHIP, Claudette worked for the Charlottesville Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Claudette grew up in Charlottesville, graduated from Western Albemarle High School and holds a B.S. in Consumer Housing from Radford University. She is a Certified Public Housing Manager through the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, a certified site compliance specialist and is Nan McKay-certified as an Eligibility Specialist and in Rent Calculation and Occupancy. Claudette’s volunteer affiliations include the Albemarle County Crime-Free Multi-Housing Program, Charlottesville’s Public Housing Association of Residents, MACAA, Community Partnership for Improved Long-Term Care (a subprogram of the Legal Aid Justice Center), and the Piedmont Area Regional Family Council. Additionally, she serves as a board member of the Albemarle County Police Department Community Advisory Team and a citizen member of the Albemarle County Police Department Community Advisory Committee. Claudette also is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Recent awards include Albemarle County’s 2007 Crime-Free Multi-Housing Program Manager of the Year and United Way’s 2011 Excellence in Nonprofit Staff Leadership for her work with PACEM.
