Everyone should be safe at home, and no one should be without heat. In collaboration with the Virginia Department of Social Services Crisis Heating Program, we work together each year to make sure community members have adequate and safe sources of heat to stay warm at home. Your support makes this work possible to help neighbors like Mrs. S.

About Our Emergency Heat Campaign

Emily MartinMrs. S bought her Earlysville home 21 years ago with her late husband, and you can hear the smile in her voice when she talks about it. “It’s an old house, but I love it,” she said. “It’s so special to me.” She recently retired from 45 years working in the hair dressing industry and enjoys spending time with her two daughters and four grandchildren that live in the area. She reached out to AHIP when the 22-year-old heat pump suddenly stopped working. With the help of the DSS Program, AHIP quickly stepped in and coordinated the installation of a new unit. “I just can’t put it into words to thank you for what you’ve done for me,” she shared. “I wouldn’t have been able to stay here if you hadn’t done that.”
